On Friday, Citizen TV journalist Stephen Letoo’s much-hyped housewarming party ended abruptly after gunshots from two fighting communities ruled the air.

The unexpected incident happened at around 5:30 pm when the Narok Governor was giving his speech at the event. Guests who were at the event were forced to scatter for safety.

The housewarming party was going down in Kilgoris, Narok County, and the area is not new to tribal clashes.

Speaking to Mpasho’s Dennis Milimo, YouTuber Gracy Makena who was part of the party said that the tension brought about by the gunshots and the alleged raid on a nearby village ended the party abruptly.

A video shared with us by Makena captures guests at the party running to safety after gunshots were heard from a distance.

Makena told Mpasho that nobody who had attended the party was hurt but there were casualties from the two communities that were allegedly fighting.

“This happened at around 5:30 and at this time people were eating and waiting for the next course of action before we heard gunshots from a distance.

This lasted for like 30 to 45 minutes and after that most people who were at the party left,” she said.

By the time the unfortunate incident happened 98% of the day's program had already happened. However, a planned after-party that was supposed to go down later that night failed to happen due to the incident.

Apart from the small incident, the Thanksgiving ceremony dubbed "Letoo Day" was a huge success.

The journalist said he slaughtered 5 bulls for the occasion that was attended by political leaders, friends, family members, and his colleagues in the media fraternity.

Letoo hosted Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu, Kisii Governor Simba Arati, MPs Julius Sunkuli, and David Ole Sankok among others at the party.

Top media personalities led by Letoo's bosses at Citizen TV Linus Kaikai and Jamila Mohamed were present.

Others present were Ben Kirui (Citizen TV), Chemutai Goin (Citizen TV), Seth Olale (Citizen TV) and Melitas ole Tenges (NTV).
