Nigerian star David Adedeji Adeleke popularly known by his stage name Davido has revealed a deep heart-to-heart conversation that he had with his dad right before the Grammy Awards.

According to the father of 6, his biggest fan is his dad and the two talked about the awards ceremony where Davido's old man assured him that regardless of what happened that night he would still be a legend.

The 'Jowo' crooner had received 3 Grammy nominations during the just concluded 6th awards ceremony after 13 years in music.

This was under the categories; Best African Music Performance for his hit single 'Unavailable' featuring Musa Keys, as well as, Best Global Song Performance for 'Feel', and lastly for Best Global Album for his record-breaking fourth studio album 'Timeless' but sadly he lost all 3 nominations.

Speaking to Rollingstone Davido candidly said, “I was on the phone with him yesterday, and he was like, ‘Son, no matter what happens, you’re still a legend.

He’s a very big fan. You know, in the beginning, we had a little scuffle because definitely he wanted me to go to school, but now he’s the biggest fan.”

On if he had ever envisioned himself dominating the field and ever being in such a position, being nominated for not one but three Grammys the artist chuckled noting when he started he just wanted to be on radio.

"I just wanted to hear my song on the radio. For it to transcend into these, it can only be God. But just being nominated and recognized alone makes me proud of myself," Davido said.

He however highlighted that he always knew that Afro beats would be a big deal given a chance.

"I always knew Afro beats was going to blow up. Now we are getting put on platforms where people find out things and I'm just happy that everything is just aligning," the father of 6 shared.
