Kamene thinks that some Kenyans borrow with no intention of paying abck. She strongly believes that these apps are out to help Kenyans in need and they are good.
"Why borrow if you can not pay. I think the apps are okay but when it comes to pay time many Kenyans disappear. Kenyans are in deep debt which now causes divorce, suicide and depression. It is crazy because it is about borrowing and then borrowing again and borrowing again." Kamene said
The duo added that it is crazy how after borrowing the money, the stress comes when it is time to pay up. The frustration those guys put on the borrower is way too much. That is what causes men to commit suicide. She added that,
It has become an addiction. But now is it true that we need to be protected from these apps?
An angry Andrew Kibe pointed out that the government has to implement security measures that will protect those who have borrowed money on how they should be asked to pay up in case of a delay.
"The mobile borrowing apps are helpful, yes, but we pay a large interest and then they harass you to pay. They should follow the interest cap because that is inhuman.! Lenders are here for biashara not to help you. They should have a way of knowing people will default you should not follow everyone's in the loaner's life. Some guy his boss was called saying he owns the app ksh2000. They do not know what they are putting themselves into and that is when you see guys jumping from the fourth floor. The government should protect me from such harassment." Kibe lamented
A caller called in to explain that Kenyans have no problem paying up and that is why the apps are always coming up.
"If Kenyans have a problem paying, we wouldn't have all these loan apps in Kenya. They are always coming up. They would have closed. My advice to those borrowing is to stop borrowing and live your life to stop the limit because when you borrow you keep doing it." Caller said
Kibe went ahead to explain that those being harassed are not rich kids but people who were in dire need of the money and they have lacked ways to pay up.
They guys who are being harassed are not those who are borrowing for the dunda. It is hose guys who are in need and then and they hope tomorrow will be better and that is why they borrow hoping they will pay
A second caller came in to give a none sympathetic truth when it comes to the apps.
Terms and conditions apply. When you borrow be ready to pay. It is a problem we are creating for ourselves because why would you borrow and you are unemployed knoing very well it will be a strain to pay up?
One thing that was clear from the calls was that most of the people who borrow are men and they are young.
