One of the brightest and most promising film and TV directors  in Kenya, Derrick Omfwoko Aswani has lost his battle with cancer.

The award winning director popularly known as Fwoks was battling stage 3 Liver Cancer but sadly succumbed to the disease on Wednesday night.

Omfwoko was one of the guys to direct the popular Citizen TV program Machachari and Tahidi High, Makutano Junction, Nairobi Law and recently in Auntie Boss, a new show on NTV that won an award in the Kalasha Awards.

Naomi Kamau, also a Director paid tribute to him saying his skills and talents will be missed.

“We have lost a good director, so young, so talented we’ll miss him,” she said.

Machachari’s former actor Brian Kimaru aka MaDVD sent his condolences: “From the Machachari crew and cast we say thank you sir REST IN PEACE MR.DIRECTOR baden jo mbuyu Omfwoko M Aswani.”
