Rufftone has defended the Kenyan gospel music industry after popular secular rapper Muthoni Drummer queen launched a scathing attack on Kenya gospel artistes.

Muthoni Drummer queen was launching her album this weekend and in the midst of all this the singer alleged that the Kenya gospel industry is not true.

According the Word is She said “I call out to and urge the artistes in the Kenyan gospel industry to be true. I ask them to make music that actually glorifies God and to lead lives that are true to their calling. If some so admire the secular music world and want to jump in, let them do that publicly. It’s about realness not trying to hide under the gospel umbrella.”

Rufftone however said that the gospel industry is still serving its purpose and transforming lives.

“It’s true that the Kenyan gospel industry is facing many teething problems, but as stakeholders, concerted efforts to ensure we remain relevant and true to our cause have been doubled. But it’s not true to say that we have lost our calling,” he told The Star- Word Is.

“Currently, the industry is full of so many young artistes. Some of them have just cleared secondary school while others are still in school. For pioneers like myself, among many others like Pete Odera and DJ Kev, we are offering guidance to these young chaps and I am sure in four years-time people will realise a very big change in the Kenyan gospel music.”
