Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has been trending after his take on the impeachment verdict against embattled Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu.

Kiss Fm's Kamene and Kibe Thursday hosted Murkomen to speak more about this issue, and other political matters such as BBI.

Many Kenyans do not understand what it is and he shed more light on it, in as much as he has been accused of opposing it.

It was an opportunity for Kenyans to call in and ask mheshimiwa any question regarding the BBI document.

“Is the BBI to bring Kenyans together? Why are we seeing a divide if this is supposed to bring us together? Why are you always ranting about corruption and it is the biggest menese in Kenya? Is there something we do not know as Kenyans? Why can we implement the constitution first?” The first caller asked.

To elaborate on the same, Kamene asked Murkomen if we as Kenyans need this BBI?

“We need to have an honest conversation as ourselves. You do not even need to amend the law to employ the youth because it is all about economics. Talking a lot which has been happening makes us lack the ability to perform as leaders. BBI has become the excuse of many leaders not to perform their duties” Murkomen said

He added that in as much as Kenyans are united by their struggle, there should be something more.

Murkomen spoke about the best way to unite the country.

“It is not easy, we just need to unite with one agenda. If I am in office the whole of Elgeyo Marakwet is in office. Do you believe even us in the office we have struggled despite the huge salary and opportunities we have? We need to meet targets of our families and that of the community. It is worse for those who do not have all we have, that is why I agree that the struggles bring us together.” Murkomen added

As a struggler, I will put you on the seat to make sure you fight for me but once one gets there the narrative changes and it becomes all about him.

“Let us not generalize. Just that many are not doing, doesn't mean all of us are not doing. We just need to unit and push the agenda.“

Murkomen said that now the next focus has to be on uniting.

The focus is now when is the next BBI rally and who will attend or not. We need to bring the us verses them conversation people were saying we had the agenda of pushing the BBI away.

Andrew Kibe weighed in saying that it is best for the leaders to have a meeting, organize themselves and then come and give the country a solution.

"We do not hold press conferences to sort out issues with Kamene when we fight privatively. As you have seen no boss has come here to tell us how to do our job. That should be the case for you. Why can't you people sit in a meeting and agree on the job ahead stop asking Kenyans what they should for us? We have given you a job. In the meeting agree and come and tell us what this BBI is. Kenyans are under so much pressure when we open the papers. I feel I am under siege. That the job is this because. I do not know what BBI is we are still building a constitution.”

Another caller had a very different perspective on the BBI document and leadership.

“Central the way they elect people is based on what they have done to the community before being in leadership. It is a lesson to other counties who will steal. Do not elect out of fanaticism but on what they can do. BBI has been politicized yet it is a good document. If it is implement, we will have a better and united Kenya.” Caller number two said

Kipchumba Murkomen answered saying,

Nobody says the BBI report is bad. Its recommendation does not require razzmatazz that we are seeing. We are spending more time on the none essentials.

The other major concerns Kiss Fm listeners had was why is it that Murkomen supports the wrong and corrupt leaders all the time.

“It is very easy for you to support corrupt leaders. You are always defending those in the limelight. Yesterday you said you need more evidence.” The question said

He defended himself saying,

If my defense for any leader means that they are corrupt then the president and deputy are the most corrupt because I support them the most. It is important to stand with the truth even when people think it is wrong. I do not want political lines to affect my support and I want to leave a legacy as a man who stood for what was right. I want to tell Kenyans I am defending things that are right and not popular. Also, we do not have parallel rallies. There is no one who is more BBI than the other. We are uniting Kenyans so we need to let go of the separation. We do not need many to mobilize people for the rally.

Kamene was surprised that there is a budget to do the BBI rallies in different counties. It was a surprise that there is a budget set aside for all that has been going on.
