Ugandan opposition MP Robert Kyangulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has launched his National Unity Platform party ahead of next year's general elections.

Bobi Wine said the party will be the political wing of his People Power Movement.

Uganda is set to hold general elections in January next year when President Yoweri Museveni is expected to seek a sixth term in office.

Earlier this year, Ugandan police arrested Bobi Wine and three other journalists.

The Kyadondo MP was arrested while heading to the first-ever consultative meeting of his presidential bid.

“Despite complying with all lawful requirements, the police and military have blocked the first consultative meeting for the 2021 Presidential election,” Wine said in his official twitter account.
