Two days ago Shaffie Weru, DJ Joe Mfalme and Nevile on their morning show at Homeboyz had a discussion that offended a lot of women especially those who have gone through Gender Based Violence.

The story was of a Kenyan lady who was thrown off the balcony of a 12 story building because she refused to participate in sexual activities. It is not a joke, but the link on the show, had them laughing. That is where the problem was.

And then the blame was shifted away from the perpetrator (the man who threw her off the balcony) to the victim (the lady who was thrown because she refused to conform to his sexual needs).

At this very moment, the fight against sexual violence and harassment is a hot topic especially after Vesh was allegedly raped, left with a broken spine and she ended up dying.

The three presenters from Homeboyz have been trending but for all the wrong reasons. Everyone was seeking for an apology.

Shaffie Weru took to social media with his official statement saying,

"Official Statement: I meant No Harm or Prejudice towards matters of such national urgency

My brothers and sisters, I take this opportunity to deeply apologize for the statements that I made on the Homeboyz Radio Breakfast Show on Wednesday, 24th March 2021.

I realize and accept that my statements about the unfortunate incident that happened to Eunice were very insensitive and hurtful and could be interpreted by some as encouraging the already ongoing and unacceptable culture of violence against women and girls.

I sincerely apologize to Eunice and her family and I deeply regret any harm that I have caused with my words. I, in no way, shape, or form support or tolerate any kind of violence. I am a proud and loving father to my daughters and will not and cannot condone violence toward women. Once again my deepest and sincerest apologies for the harm I caused."
