Lewis Otieno Omondi, one of the two candidates who emerged top in the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam wants to be an engineer goer like his father.

Speaking to the press after receiving his KCPE results, Lewis confessed that he looks up to his father Peter Otieno who is an engineer by profession, and would like to walk in his footsteps.

Omondi hopes to join Alliance High School and later study engineering at the university level.

“I thank God for the impressive performance in the KCPE exam. My parents and teachers gave me the encouragement and support that made all the difference and contributed to my good performance in the exam. My fellow students were there for me all the time whenever I needed their support and help,” said Omondi.

On the other hand, Robinson Fwaro, 14, a pupil who also scored 431 marks in the 2022 KCPE exams wants to be a software engineer.

The pupil from Christ the King Primary School in Kanduyi constituency in Bungoma county revealed his aspiration during an interview at his former school on Wednesday.

Fwaro said he is filled with joy and he did not expect to be the first student in Kenya.

“I expected to be among the top ten students in the country but this has come to me as a surprise,” he said.

The top pupil said he desires to join Alliance Boys High School.

“I have been yearning to join Alliance Boys High School to realise my dream of becoming a software engineer. I know that with my parent's support I will make it,” he said.

The top student attributed his success to discipline and hard work in school and cooperation with teachers.

Fwaro added that he received a lot of support from his parents. He is the firstborn in a family of two, his younger brother is four years.
