Taking off make up

This one is for my girlies.

Makeup has become a staple for most ladies, and as one is still learning tricks and tips to enhance their makeup look, some forget that it is also important to remove your makeup safely.

Remember, the better your skin looks the more flawless your makeup will be, and isn’t that the goal?

First of all, this has to be stressed severally, please do not sleep with your makeup on.

It is completely normal to feel a little lazy when it comes to cleaning your face up.

You went for dinner or a night out with your friends, and you come back home late and tired and you have to take off your makeup, nobody got time for that.

As much as it seems those few hours till morning won’t hurt, it will.

According to the plastic surgeon based in New York, James Marotta, going to bed with a full face can cause aging.

“Sleeping in your makeup can cause exposure to free radicals, leading to collagen breakdown and skin that ages faster,”he explained.

Do not use makeup-up wipes either.

A dermatologist, Dr Lindsey Zubritsky says makeup wipes only spread your makeup around.

“Makeup wipes are the worst thing you can use on your face. Not only are they bad for the environment but they literally smear your makeup around and don’t actually clean your skin.”

She then advises one to use micellar water.

It is an affordable option and easy to find, especially from the brands Garnier, Neutrogena, or La Roche Posay which are all offered in Kenya.

The products are in cosmetic stores, beauty shops, and the beauty section aisle of supermarkets.

They range from about Ksh 400 to Ksh 1200.

One should also avoid using coconut oil to clean up their makeup, instead substitute it with Vaseline.

Coconut oil will clog your pores and make your breakouts worse.

For these options, one can use their hands or a cotton pad, it is more gentle for your skin.

Now you go, girl!
