Kenya National Examinations Council has apologised for the delay in accessing the KCPE 2023 results.

They sent a message to those who had tried to access the results.

"Greetings, we apologise for the delay in accessing KCPE 2023 results. We will update you once they are available on 40054," the message read.

The Ministry of Education had said it is working to have the SMS code for KCPE 2023 results working.

This is after learners and parents noticed it was not working when they tried accessing their results on Thursday.

"Our IT team is working on the issue," the Education Ministry said.

Each year after the announcement of the KCPE results, parents usually access their children's results right after they are announced through an SMS code or the Knec website.

Parents who talked to The Star and had tried to access results said they got a response that KCPE results are not available.

"Dear Customer, the KCPE 2023 results are not available. Kindly try again later after the announcement. KNEC helpline 08007224900," the message read.

After Machogu announced the results, he said candidates, their parents, and guardians can access the results through the Knec website, SMS platforms, county education offices and their respective schools.

For the SMS option, the candidates should send their index number, followed by the initials KCPE (in capital letters) to 40054 in order to access the results.

"Parents and candidates can get their KCPE results by sending the' results by sending their index number to code 40054. The SMS will be charged at Sh25."

The SMS platform is available for all mobile networks and will be charged Sh25 each.

This year, the council registered 1.4 million candidates compared to 1.2 million in 2022.

Also, this is the last year candidates will sit the KCPE exams as the ministry works on phasing out the 8-4-4 curriculum.
