Celebrated media personality Chemutai Goin has officially ended her working relationship with Royal Media Services-owned station Citizen TV.

Goin officially left Citizen TV on February 19, 2024, as she prepares to take up a new position in Speaker Moses Wetangula’s office.

The political reporter was on Monday treated to a pleasant surprise as she exited the media house.

Video shared by her now colleague Ayub Abdikadir shows Chemutai bidding goodbye to her fellow journalists with a grateful heart – narrating how she will miss the newsroom.

“Today I was looking at my first sign-off, and it was November 2018 when I came here.

“Leaving for me is bitter-sweet because this is where is littery had my wings and went to the eagles and I think that I where I will stay even when I go to other ventures,” she said.

“I’m glad I have really grown here … I never used to do Swahili when I came here I was sent on assignment and Jamilla Mohamed asked me to write something and now I do Swahili. This is it let me take the pen to another place and see how other sectors work,”.

News anchor Ayub Abdikadir used his socials to celebrate Chemutai Goin in style- praising her style of reporting and delivery of news items.

“You delivered your assignments with distinction and determination, crafted your own niche (political reporting), and your dynamism in reportage in other areas only admirable. For the profession, the stratospheric height you attained is unmatched. @Chemutai_Goin Keep GOIN-ing,” Ayub said.

“An illustrious stint, towering among peers, and passionately pursued a privileged career. @Chemutai_Goin, as you flip onto a new page, I wish you God's blessings and guidance. All the very best. I will miss you. @citizentvkenya,”.

We also understand that Hassan Mugambi will also be leaving Citizen TV for a new role in CS Aden Duale’s office.

The two have added their names to the list of journalists who recently left Citizen TV for greener pastures.

Journalist Francis Gachuri left Citizen TV in 2024 for a new job in CS  Kithure Kindiki’s office while Sam Ogina left for a new job in the office of the Majority leader at the National Assembly.

Waihiga Mwaura left Citizen TV for BBC in 2023.
