Dj Extreme 254 on the streets
Dj Extreme 254 on the streets

Two days ago, a photo of popular disc Jockey, Dj Extreme 254 holding a placard on the streets of Nairobi pleading for financial help has since gone viral.

When the writer spoke to Dj Extreme, he revealed that has been nursing a shoulder injury for four years now after damaging his tendons while playing rugby.

His current situation has forced him to learn how to DJ with one hand.

"I used to play rugby four years ago and I got a shoulder injury while training so from there I think it has gotten worse through the years and it dislocates easily. I really have to be careful about it and keep it in a sling." He said.

He says the dislocations became frequent from last year and that is when he decided to seek medical advice. His doctor recommended an operation as a permanent solution.

The last dislocation I had was in December and It happened as I turned in my sleep.

To correct that, he needs a corrective surgery which will cost him Sh600,000 and after months of fundraising, he has managed to raise Sh175,000 from family and friends but the amount is not even close to half of what he needs.

Extreme says before he went to the street, he had not received any contribution for a while but the desperate move seems to be bearing fruits with a few people reaching out to him, now more than before.

Has he received any form of help from his celebrity friends?

A few have made Mpesa payments and then we were thinking of doing a physical fundraiser. We are working on that and Obinna said he will MC for me then we can invite people.

How has he managed to work using one hand?

I am very good at my work I have been putting in so much practice and at the moment I can work well with my left hand but do minimal things with my right hand. As long as I do minimal things with my right hand I can still steal a show.

Extreme is calling on Kenyans to use the Paybill number 8014993 (account DJ Extreme) to help him raise the amount required.

He says he is still talking to people to see whether he can secure DJ bookings and he is ready to work as long as he gets treated.
