Jalang'o

On Wednesday, many Kenyans were dealt another huge blow after president Kenyatta announced the extension of closure of bars by another 30 days.

However, on the positive side, the closing time for restaurants has been extended by an hour from 7pm to 8pm effective today.

A month ago,  the president announced that all bars would be closed indefinitely in a bid to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The president also banned the sale of alcohol in restaurants and eateries for 30 days.

A month later, many were hoping that he would at least open the bars and allow the sale of alcohol in eateries but with stringent measures taken.

This morning, Jalang'o pleaded with the president to re-open the economy, citing the decreased numbers of infections as well as to help save people's jobs.

The breakfast presenter listed a number of people who have suffered since the first case of Coronavirus was reported in the country.

"let's just look at weddings, the guys suffering include people dealing with  set ups, groundsmen and cooks," Said Jalang'o.

He added,

When you come to the concerts, ticketing guys, set up guys, photographers, kampuni za tickets zimefungwa sahii. Haya twende club, security guys, madem wenye hu promote pombe, artists, their dancers, managers, cooks and even taxi drivers have been hugely affected.  The losses we have made are hard to reverse."

His sentiments comes just a few days after Khaligraph made similar pleas to the president, where he highlighted the plights of fellow artists.

In his plea, Khaligraph highlighted the fact that the youths, artists included, are suffering from depression.
