Gospel singer Kambua has paid tribute to gospel music vocalist Mandisa Lynn Hundley who has died at the age of 47.

Taking to Instagram, the 'Usiku Na Mchana' hitmaker wrote; 

"Whoosh 😭💔 What shall we say to a woman whose music carried us through many dark nights and high tides? Rest well Mandisa. Thank you for sharing your gift with the world 🕊️."

Mandisa was also a Grammy-winning American Idol singer.

The news of her death was announced by her publicist on Instagram.

"We can confirm that yesterday Mandisa was found in her home deceased. At this time we do not know the cause of death or any further details. We ask for your prayers for her family and close knit circle of friends during this incredibly difficult time. Mandisa was a voice of encouragement and truth to people facing life’s challenges all around the world."

In 2006, she competed in the reality 'American Idol' and emerged ninth. 

In 2014, she took home the Grammy award for best contemporary Christian music category for 'Overcomer'

She was known for songs like 'Overcomer' 'Bleed The Same' 'Unfinished' 'Stronger' among others.
