It appears that Kenyans are not really feeling Vera Sidika's latest song if we are to make the judgment based on the like-to-dislike ratio on YouTube.

Vera released 'Pop Star' after a week of building up drama, using a bogus butt reduction surgery as a promotion gimmick for the song.

The generated interest blazed views for the song on YouTube, but it has massively slowed down in the past few days.

The song got 300,00 views within 24 hours of release six days ago but it currently sits on a total of 435,000 views.

But it's the ratio between the likes and dislikes that 'Pop Star' has received on YouTube that tells an entirely different tale.

The song currently has nearly twice as many dislikes as likes. With 21,000 dislikes, the socialite's song has set a record this year as the most disliked Kenyan song on YouTube.

A quick look at the conversation surrounding the song on Twitter puts things into perspective:

@Akinyi19Abongo: What nonsense is this?

@kabiru_98:Played what well? The stunt was unbelievable and the song is shocking

@zawadi_bantu: If you have to go to such lengths to release a song...it must so trash that you are sure no one would listen to it unless coerced or a gun pointed to their head.

@Muthoni_____: Her rhymes in Swahili are really good, she should go more in that direction, leave the English

A good number of people feel as though Vera exploited a very sensitive topic for her own personal gain.

Despite the promotional success, she found through her gimmicks, many women who are struggling with their bodies and self-confidence feel deceived by her stunt.

Many had started to see her as an ally to the cause and a role model as a famous person that decided to reverse the surgery and embrace her natural body.
