The Guinness World Record has finally approved Nigerian chef Hilda Baci's longest cooking marathon, after weeks of waiting.

In a statement on Tuesday, GWR said Baci was the official holder of the record for the longest cooking time, at 93 hours and 11 minutes.

This was, however, seven hours less than the time she submitted of 100 hours.

"After reviewing all the footage, we're delighted to announce that Hilda Baci is the new record holder for the longest cooking marathon (individual)," GWR said.

According to Guinness World Record, there was a miscalculation in the time taken for breaks.

They explained that during the marathon, the chef is supposed to take 5-minute breaks for every hour cooked.

The record attempt was made by Baci from May 11 to May 15, 2023, during her cook-a-thon, which took about 100 hours.

The 27-year-old runs a restaurant in Nigeria known as  'My Food by Hilda'.

During the cooking marathon, Hilda was not allowed to take coffee, stimulants, or any energy drink to artificially boost her energy and bodily strength while cooking.

She cooked round the clock, with no sleep (morning, afternoon, evening, and night), and in some instances, would rest for a few minutes.

The food made during the exercise where distributed to the attendees, free of charge.

The previous record was held by chef Lata Tandon from India who cooked for 87hr 45min in September 2019.
