After Elon Musk restricted the number of postings that could be read on the social media platform, several Twitter users have spoken out to express their opinions.

When he announced the temporary ban on Saturday, Musk caught the interest of thousands of people.

He claimed that his action is intended to address the high amounts of data scraping and system tampering.

"To address extreme levels of data scraping and system manipulation, we have applied temporary limits. Verified accounts are limited to reading 6,000 posts per day and unverified accounts are limited to 600 posts per day. New unverified accounts are limited to 300 posts per day," he said.

Many users of the app swiftly responded to the announcement, with some claiming that it was through the app that they learned more about global issues.

"Elon, big things are happening in France and we need to stay informed over here. Please don’t do this tonight," Juliette Briens, a Twitter user said.

Other users said that the action was slowly killing the app and not in a good way.

"Does anyone in your group of advisors ever say “No” to you? Do they ever say, “That action will create the following unwanted consequences”? I started using Twitter early and watched it grow as a community and platform. You are killing it mate and not in a good way," Therese Rein said.

Since acquiring Twitter in October, Musk has made major changes to the company and its platform.
