Four 17-year-old guys who worked together and raped a 16-year-old girl in shifts throughout the night in the church lavatory startled a Nigerian court when the shocking case was presented to them.

The court was informed that the lads ambushed the girl in the church lavatory at night during the vigil service and continued to abuse her until morning while live-streaming the video on the TikTok and WhatsApp networks.

In anticipation of a recommendation from the Ogun State Director of Public Prosecutions, the court adjourned the case to August 2, 2023.

The teenagers will be held in the Correctional Center's custody until the next hearing date, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.

In Ikosi Ketu, Lagos State, the suspects—all students—reside with their parents. They are charged with rape, cyberbullying, and conspiracy.

Before sending them back for another hearing and adjourning the matter, the court rejected their demands.

This is being reported at a time when many young people in this country who use the short-form video network TikTok are being accused of using it as a nighttime haven for luxury and immorality.

According to reports, the young people stream their movies live at night while engaging in opulent activities, undermining the network's rationale and intent, which was to educate and thrill others with short, amusing videos.
