'Raila Odinga entered his bus like any other passenger,' this is what happened according to Duncan Murage, the bus driver who drove the politician to town on Monday.

The matatu driver claimed in an interview with KTN News that the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya leader stopped the matatu to board when he was on his usual routine of transporting passengers from Ng'ong town to Nairobi CBD and back.

“Alisimamisha tu gari sisi tulimshtukia tu, akaingia tu kama mtu wa kawaida tukambeba. Vile sisi huwa tunakuja tukabeba watu, tukaenda hadi GPO akashuka,” Murage narrated.

According to him, there was a lot of bustle and excitement as the ODM leader boarded the bus as onlookers flocked to see what was going on.

He claims that while Raila talked with the other passengers in the back, he proceeded to drive the bus to town like he would on any other day.

“Ata sikupata chance ya kuongea na yeye. Aliingia tu huko nyuma kama mtu wa kawaida. Sikuogopa juu mimi ni mtu wa kawaida tu.  Vile sisi hubeba watu tu, niliendesha gari tu hivyo,” he said.

Murage admitted that it surprised him much to see one of Kenya's leading politicians take his bus to town and that it made him feel incredibly happy inside.

Additionally, he disclosed that the previous candidate for president paid his bus payment in the same manner as other regular riders.

“Kila mtu alijisort kwa gari. Alijilipia,” Murage said.

Murage stated that some of the people close to him have been bothering him with phone calls in an effort to take advantage of the goodies they believe the ODM leader had rewarded him on Monday, despite the positive attention his matatu received after Raila boarded it for work.

“Wanasema Baba alitujenga lakini hakuna kitu kama hiyo. Alibebwa tu kama mtu wa kawaida. Gari imepata tu hype,” he said.

Murage claimed that if given the opportunity to chauffeur a prominent politician, he would do so with pride and diligence.
