I know by now almost everyone has heard the catchy, 'Mali Safi Chito,' song, well you won't believe the inspiration behind it!

The artist behind the now trending tune has revealed that God Himself commissioned her to write and produce said song.

Marakwet Daughter, the artist behind the viral Kalenjin song notes that she prayed and God gave her 3 songs with Mali Safi Chito which loosely translates to "pure gold person" one of them.

Speaking with a local publication Marakwet Daughter whose real name is Millicent Jerotich narrated how the song came to her head back in 2021 after she prayed.

On why it took her 2 years to release the "God delivered" tune the Kalenjin artist noted that she did not have studio money for recording and producing the song back then.

“My songs came automatically into my mind. I had spared some time to pray, and I was given three songs, and Mali Safi Chito was one of them. Mali Safi Chito is a celebration song. and Chito means a person,” Marakwet's Daughter said.

She went on to add that she did not expect the song to blow up the way it had because she has been making music for a while and had not experienced that viral stardom just yet.

Marakwet Daughter highlighted when the funds finally came she did it like any of her other songs and asked her manager to upload it on YouTube. She notes her manager had an inkling the song would do great and he was proved right!

Her fortune finally struck when one of her friends decided to do a TikTok challenge with it.

I took it to my manager and before uploading it on YouTube he assured me that it was a viral song.

My friend asked if she could do a TikTok challenge and I agreed because I didn’t really expect much from it. After a short while, she called me and told me the song was trending and asked me also to do the song’s challenge since I was the composer,” the artist revealed.

The song since its release 17 days ago has over 640 thousand views, 2200 comments and 13 thousand likes.
