Just when you thought you had seen it all, in comes controversial televangelist Pastor James Ng'ang'a bragging about his quarter million phone purchase while discouraging his congregation on spending on phones.

And here's the gag 3/4 of the money spent to purchase the expensive gadget wasn't even his!

In a now viral TikTok, the televangelist could be seen preaching... well more of borderline lecturing the congregation highlighting that expensive phones would distract his congregants from focusing on their lives.

Pastor Ng'ang'a proceeded to note that only stupid people would buy a phone worth Sh.20,000 or more especially if acquired through an instalment plan.

"How will you go and buy a phone worth Sh 20,000? Worse, is when you acquire it through an instalment plan.

You can only buy a Sh. 20,000 phone if you are stupid because you will have to think about the phone every time," dramatically said the senior Neno Evangelism Centre preacher said.

Shortly afterwards, Nga'ng'a proceeded to reveal that even though he was discouraging them from splashing money on pricey phones, personally he uses a phone worth Sh. 240, 000.

He went on to however ask his congregation not to compare themselves with him as they are on completely different social classes. Ng'ang'a admitted to having purchased the phone mainly as a status symbol and the "respect" that comes with owning such a gadget.

"This mine cost me Sh 240,000. I was given Sh 160,000 by someone to buy a phone then I topped it up.

So why would you want to buy this phone? You know I don't usually use every application on this phone. I only use WhatsApp, Facebook and YouTube. However, I bought it because of my class. If we go to a meeting I just place it on the table," the pastor said.

TikTok users have had contrasting opinions with some agreeing with Ng'ang'a's "financial advice" while others seem enraged with the preacher for his bragging reminding him, "we're all equal in the eyes of God,"
