Following an accident at the Karai area near Keroche along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway, at least 22 persons have been injured.

Many of the passengers were students returning to school, according to St John Ambulance.

According to St John, the accident occurred on Wednesday as a result of a head-on collision between the students' matatu and a van.

"The casualties received on-site First Aid and were taken to Naivasha Referral Hospital," St John Ambulance said.

At least 22 people have been hurt in an accident that happened along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway near Keroche in the Karai district.

St John Ambulance said that many of the passengers were kids on their way back to school.

St John claims that the tragedy happened on Wednesday as a result of a van and the students' matatu colliding head-on.

Mau Summit police arrived quickly and helped to move the injured people to Molo Hospital.

Tom Odero, the chief of police for the Rift Valley, urged all drivers to drive very carefully in order to avoid accidents.
