Oscar Sudi - My own daughter sent money for protests

Kapseret Member of Parliament, Oscar Sudi, has opened up about his children's involvement in the recent protests in Kenya, which were led by the youth.

Speaking during a funeral ceremony in Kesses, Uasin Gishu County on Friday, the close ally of President William Ruto revealed that his teenage children participated in the protests, which lasted for nearly three weeks.

He recounted how his daughter told him about the protests and even sent a contribution to help the victims.

“My Gen Z children were having lunch and then going to the protests. One of my daughters told me, 'Dad, we Gen Z were doing our own good things, but these people have changed everything and come to oppress us. Nonetheless, I sent ten thousand shillings.’

I asked her what the ten thousand shillings was for. She told me it was for those who were injured and those who died. You can imagine, even my own daughter sent money,” Sudi said.

The ruling UDA party MP sarcastically claimed that Gen Z is rebellious but noted that they would be listened to.

However, he urged them to respect the country and their parents even as they push for change.

“I want to encourage Gen Z to respect their parents, seek a way of life, and criticize us justly. We will listen to you, and we will move forward well as a country. But do not destroy what exists because you want something new that you don't know where it comes from or where it begins. The important thing is to talk and find ways to resolve issues,” he said.

Sudi noted that he himself came from a very humble background, claiming that he started working at the age of 14.
