Reverend Kathy Kiuna of Jubilee Christian Church has addressed why one of her children was absent from her late husband Bishop Allan Kiuna’s burial last week.

Bishop Allan Kiuna, the founder of JCC and Kathy’s husband, passed away on July 9th and was laid to rest a week later in Thindugua, Kiambu County.

The couple had three children: Vanessa, Stephanie, and Jeremy. During the burial, many noticed that Stephanie was not present, despite her paying tribute to her father on social media.

Her absence was surprising, especially since her sister Vanessa, an advocate based in Australia, managed to return to Kenya to attend the funeral.

Addressing the concerns, Kathy Kiuna, who was elevated from reverend to bishop status on Sunday, explained that Stephanie had made significant efforts to attend but was ultimately unable to do so due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control.

"She really did try to come, but for reasons beyond anybody's control, she was not able to. However, she will come soon with her family," Kathy said.

On the day of the burial, Kathy confirmed she had video-called Stephanie from Lee Funeral Home so that she could see her father one last time.

Bishop Allan Kiuna, aged 57, had been battling Multiple Myeloma cancer since his diagnosis in 2018/19.

Despite ongoing treatment, he went public with his condition. In December 2023, he announced he was cancer-free following treatment in the US.

Multiple Myeloma cancer involves abnormal plasma cells accumulating in the bone marrow and forming tumors in various bones throughout the body.
