Simone Biles breaks silence after hubby was trolled for wearing her Olympic gold medal
Simone Biles led Team USA to a gold medal in the team competition on Tuesday
Multi-award-winning American gymnast Simone Biles has yet again found herself fiercely defending her husband following an uproar from netizens.
Her husband, Jonathan Owens, came under fire shortly after pictures of him wearing Simone's first Paris 2024 Olympic gold medal, which she won a coveted manner and broke the internet while at it, went viral.
Interestingly, the photos were posted by 29-year-old NFL player, Owens himself to his Instagram page. However, he was not expecting the backlash that followed.
One of the pics he posted showed the couple, who tied the knot back in 2023, broadly smiling at the camera, with Simone placing her hand on his mid-rib section.
While the second one showed the couple sharing a kiss with Owen's arm around Simone's back.
In both photos, he proudly wore Biles’ medal around his neck while holding it up to the camera.
Captioning the pics he wrote, “Witnessing history every time you step on the mat 😍🔥 Congrats baby on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!!
Just wow!!!! 8 of them!!!!! So thankful I was there to see it ❤️🤍💙.”
The post garnered close to 9k comments with most of them calling out the football player for acting like he won the medal when it was 27-year-old Simone who had put in all the work.
One user quipped, "why he holding it like he won it?" While another wrote, "There is something very unsettling about you wearing her medal. Seems off. Give it back to her immediately,"
And on and on went the comments with others being a little demeaning towards Owen while asking him to focus on his football career if he wanted something to brag about.
Defending her partner, Simone revealed she had personally handed her gold medal to all her family members to wear and share in the victory with her. Thus she did not understand what the fuss was about.
“The crazy thing is, I put my medal on every single one of my family members and took pictures. So don’t ever make assumptions,” the gymnast commented under TikToker Kiera Breaugh’s video critiquing the Chicago Bears player.
“Like y’all are so f–ing miserable. Leave us alone.” She added.

Instead of cheering the couple on, many fans slammed Owens for thinking it was acceptable to wear the coveted medal.
