PJ Morton was born on March 29, 1981, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Bishop Paul Morton and Dr. Debra Brown Morton.

His journey into music began as a teenager, deeply influenced by his father’s musical career.

Morton graduated from St. Augustine High School and furthered his studies in marketing at Morehouse College, graduating in 2003.

Career Highlights Since 2012, Morton has been the keyboardist for Maroon 5, joining the band officially after initially touring with them in 2010.

Known for blending his soulful R&B style with pop, Morton has added elements of funk, rock, gospel, and jazz fusion to his music.

His major label debut album, "New Orleans," was released on May 14, 2013, under Young Money Records.

The album’s lead single, "Only One," featuring Stevie Wonder, received a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Song in 2014. Morton established his own record label, Morton Records, in 2016, aiming to build "The New Orleans Motown."

He has collaborated with notable artists such as John Legend, Maroon 5, Stevie Wonder, India Arie, and Lil Wayne.

His latest album includes collaborations with African musicians like Fireboy DML, Fela Kuti, Asa, Ndabo Zulu, and the Soweto Spiritual Singers. While Nairobi was not part of his original tour schedule, his new album features "All The Dreamers," a track sampling "Mwaki" by Kenyan artist Sofiya Nzau.

Personal Life PJ Morton married Kortni Morton on December 25, 2008. The couple, who began their relationship as adults after growing up in the same church, have three children: Jakai, 19, P3, 13, and Peyton, 11.
