'I wouldn't have come back,' Ellen finally opens up on why she's ending show

Ellen DeGeneres is ending her talk show in 2022 after 19 seasons of being on air.

The talk show host in an interview with breakfast show 'Today' said she wasn't quitting due to toxic work environment allegations.

“If it was why I was quitting, I would’ve not have come back this year....I really did think about not coming back, because it did, you know, it was devastating. I am a kind person. I am a person who likes to make people happy,” she said.

DeGeneres added that she really didn’t understand and that “I still don’t understand it. It was too orchestrated. It was too coordinated. And people get picked on, but for four months straight for me? ... And then for me to read in the press about a toxic work environment, when all I’ve ever heard from every guest that comes on the show is what a happy atmosphere this is and what a happy place it is?”

She said she had no idea and ever saw anything that would even point to that when 'Tthere’s 255 employees here and there are a lot of different buildings. Unless I literally stayed here until the last person goes home at night.'

The comedian is proud of what she and her crew have achieved over the years.

“I’m proud that we are funny. I’m proud that we are helpful to people and that we represent acts of kindness and highlighting people that we want to say, look at this person doing good.”

Her show has won more than 60 Daytime Emmy awards.
