'Thank you,' Sean Andrew Kibaki speaks on grandpa's death
Content creator and influencer Sean Andrew has thanked Kenyans for the support during a time when he, his family and the entire nation is mourning the death of retired president Mwai Kibaki.
Kibaki's death was announced on Friday by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
In a tweet, Sean Andrew who is a grandson of Mwai Kibaki wrote
"I'm amazed by all the support from you all. From calls, texts, dms... even when we meet. It is Your positivity that is getting us through this and I humbly appreciate you with all my heart"
He added 'Truly Thanks' with the hashtags Mwai Kibaki and Legacy Lives on.
After the announcement of Kibaki's death, Sean removed all his social media profiles and replaced them with black.
According to colour psychology, black often symbolizes death or mourning is still a safe choice for funerals.
Previously, Sean Andrew's younger brother, Mwai Kibaki Jnr took time to also thank the public for their support.
"Truly overwhelmed by the love and prayers we have received. Thank you for keeping my family and I in your thoughts," he wrote on Instagram
In another Instagram story, he wrote;
"Sometimes a legend that endures for decades .. endures for a reason.. to realise the power of our dreams and inspire galaxies of greatness for generations to come. The sky is not the limit. It is only the beginning. Legends never die. 1931-2022 RIP Your Excellency."
The national funeral steering committee announced that Kibaki will be buried on April 30 in Othaya, Nyeri County.
The public has been given a chance to view the body of the retired President between 9 am and 5 pm.
The national state funeral will happen on April 29, 2022 at Nyayo National Stadium.
The funeral's memorial service will be interdenominational and led by the Catholic Church.
Final rites for President Kibaki will be held on Saturday, April 30, with a memorial service at Othaya Stadium.
