Catherine Kasavuli

Catherine Kasavuli's son, Martin Kasavuli paid tribute to his late mother. He said they had an unbreakable bond.

"My mum and I had a tight bond since I was born. Even when she was struggling to educate me we always had laughter."

"Growing up I was always my mum's bodyguard."

On why he refused to venture into the media industry, he said;

"One of the things she always wanted me to do was to go to TV and broadcast. It was her way of saying you will do what I want."

"The reason I did not want to join TV was that the shoes were too big to fill."

Kasavuli's requiem mass was held at the Friends' International Centre, Ngong Rd.

It was attended by family, friends, industry colleagues, and national leaders among them Prime cabinet secretary Musalia Mudavadi, CS Ababu Namwamba, and Senator Edwin Sifuna among others.

On what CS Ababu Namwamba told him, Martin said;

"Ababu told me, Son, allow us to help your mum. But I didn't want to take away her privacy. She was humble and drama aside. Even as cancer rocked she always tried to be strong,"

CS Ababu eulogized Catherine as a role model to many.

 "Never bang the door too hard on your way out, you may need to use the same door on your way back."

"I want to thank Martin for allowing me to spend some incredible time with your mom. 26 days later she lost the battle. We talked about a million things with Catherine," he said.

She died on the 29th of December 2022 while receiving treatment at the Kenyatta national hospital.
