Miriam Kighenda and her daughter who met a tragic and avoidable death when their car slid into the Indian Ocean off a ferry.

Miriam Kighenda died after their car sank into the Indian Ocean and took divers 13 days to retrieve their bodies. According to the autopsy reports, they both died of asphyxiation – the state or process of being deprived of oxygen, which can result in unconsciousness or death; suffocation.

Sonko rescue team transported the bodies from Jocham mortuary in Mombasa to their final resting place.

The Nairobi governor shared photos of the bodies and family members before departing for Salama on facebook.
