Collins Majale popularly known as Collo is taking the music industry by storm. Ever since he came back to the limelight, his music has been growing at a fast pace. It sometimes feels like he never left, which of course is the case.
Well, Collo has released a new gospel jam dubbed Bendera with a group from Kisumu called CBK Group. He has always believed in nurturing new talent and helping them understand the music industry and enabling them to grow as musicians and artistes.
He has taken up upon himself to stand by upcoming artistes and walk them through this journey as long as you know exactly what you are doing.
During an interview with Lynda Nyangweso and Shaffie Weru on Breakfast with the Stars, Collo explained the main reason why he believes or rather is dedicated to nurturing new talent in the country, considering Kenya is a rich nation with rich people.
“Kenya has been a trendsetter on behalf of Africa, when it comes to music especially hiphop culture and when you talk about music, many guys used to come to Nairobi to record music because we had all the resources, when you think about studios. But as they were coming to Nairobi, they used to pass through Kisumu and run through a sound called Benga, which now gave them Rhumba, which in turn gave birth to Lingala. But then, we’ve never celebrated our very own sound especially now with the young guys. When you talk about recruiting talent, it’s not just about recruiting. It’s about naturing it, utilising and sustaining it and so CBK are one group to watch,” he said.
On what the song Bendera is about, he said, “This song is about hope, advocating for spiritual growth, hope for musicians and artistes of our nation.”
