The Kenyan government has confirmed the first-ever coronavirus case in Kenya. Speaking to the media the CS for health Mutahi Kagwe said,
‘THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH HAS CONFIRMED THE FIRST CORONA VIRUS CASE IN KENYA. 

IT WAS CONFIRMED ON 12/03/2020. THE FIRST SINCE THE OUTBREAK IN CHINA.

THE CASE IS THAT OF A KENYAN CITIZEN TRAVELLING BACK HOME FROM US VIA LONDON,UNITED KINGDOM

AS FAR AS CORONA VIRUS IS CONFIRMED IT WAS QUESTION OF WHEN IT WOULD SPREAD.’

Here are the few measures the CS has advised Kenyans to take to prevent contracting the Corona Virus.

  1. Persons with a cough or sneeze to stay at home
  2. Stay at home if you feel unwell with fever
  3.  All public gatherings suspended
  4.  All inter-schools events suspended
  5.  Public transport providers to provide hand sanitizers
  6.  All prison visits suspended
  7. Travel outside the country suspended unless absolutely necessary
  8. Zero travel to countries with high Coronavirus outbreak

Though the government concluded their press conference by saying there should no cause for alarm.

‘THERE IS NO CAUSE FOR ALARM, THERE WILL BE SOME INCONVENIENCES AND WE APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE. WE CALL FOR SERIOUS CITIZEN RESPONSIBILITY.’
