When he sings about herding cattle in his music, he is legit talking about his experience in life.

Gospel singer L J Maasai joined Maloko show host Chito Ndlovu in studio to chat about his life.

The singer admitted to being a herdsboy back in the day in Narok.

I did this for six years, when i was about three-years-old, then i went to school in malindi. some stuff happened, then i was off school, then i was herding cows again. the second time was for business.

So was it like for his family?

I was taught by my grandparents, but later I did it for chumes, Like I would go to my neighbors and they would give me two hundred shillings

How old was he when he started earning his first salary?

I was like nine-years-old.

He has a brand new hit called 'Mamiracle' and in the song he seems to be singing about haters. Isn't there any other message he and other musicians can pass along?

I'm not singing about haters really. I sing about reality, let me say that and that story from verse one to the last word on that song is a true story of what I've been through. You get? So me I was just writing my story.

There are haters, wako, there are people who will talk. You see I am not even complaining about them, I'm just saying they talk, but God still came through.

Besides his haters, what else was the inspiration for this new song?

I guess the main thing was what I've been through, so when I was writing the song I was really more focussed on giving a true story. In my music most of the time I'm writing about something I've heard about, something someone has talked about or something I've seen but this time i wanted to talk about myself, what I've been through in exactly those words.
