The stand up star known for her Kalenjin character shared a photo before the fame.
This is from back when no one knew who Jemutai was and if she would ever be a comic sensation with serious brand endorsements to her name.
No one knew that her signature phrase "Chibambe" would be all the rage. And her chocolate sking would be serving melanin goals.

In a past interview, Jemutai revealed that the road to getting to where she is today was not easy.
"I auditioned for 10 months straight without success. The team of creatives would keep advising me to create a character so every Tuesday my mom would religiously give me fare to travel all the way from Embakasi to Langata to try my luck."
She continued, "Unlike many other jobs where your connections land you a job, in comedy your punch lines are your one way ticket to audience, something I think my mother understood so she never complained about how long I was taking to make it."
And as they say, the rest is history.
