Patoranking is now one of the most celebrated African artistes and of course, he is from Nigeria. I really do not know what these guys are doing but it's really working for them.

He made his debut in the music world after a collaboration with Timaya. Since then he has been releasing hits and just recently, he released his album, Wilmer. The album which he named after his first daughter.

In an interview on E Daily Nigeria, he said hard and smart work combined is what pays him. He actually believes music will be main source of income for Nigeria.

I have learned that Talent is just 1% and it takes way more to make a start and maintain stardom. It has also taught me the importance of tunnel vision and the fact that I can’t please everyone.

From the interview, you could tell he did not have it any easy growing up. He missed school but once he was able to continue he made it a point to finish school.

There’s never regret, always a lesson. However, I have many wishes and one of them is that I got a chance to finish school

One thing that keeps Patoranking in check is the fact that he had a past he would never want to go back to. That sets him apart from all the other youthful artistes who have been swallowed by the limelight.

Anybody who has suffered in the past should be wise

Patoranking has learned to love Swahili. In his song, Wilmer, a dedication to his daughter, he adds 'Nakupenda' to the verse when he declares he will do anything for her and as he confesses he loves her.

Kenyans got a chance to share in the glory of his new album when he had a launch party after he dropped it.
