Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja was on Saturday arrested at a Kilimani bar for flouting curfew rules.

Together with 10 other people, he was drinking at Ladies Lounge which was still operating at around 1.10 am.

This did not sit well with Kenyans who bashed him on Twitter after he responded saying he has not and has never been arrested.

According to reports, the police were last evening planning a manhunt for Senator Johnson Sakaja after the troubled lawmaker failed to show up to record a statement to facilitate his arraignment for flouting curfew orders.

Speaking today, he has finally accepted the charges saying,

"I take responsibility for having flouted the Covid-19 rules, I was outside my home past 9pm...It is regrettable but all of us make mistakes." ~ Senator Sakaja

During Sakaja’s arrest, the others managed to escape from the scene. While in custody, Sakaja refused to be released on free bond and threatened to transfer all the officers involved in his arrest within 24 hours.
