The Ellen DeGeneres Show is back on air but due to the pandemic, there isn't an audience. The show is still virtual.

Screens have been placed in the area where her live audience sat to make it look like it's a live recording. Creative right?

In as much as she is back, she needed to explain a few things. Remember the last time she was making headlines, about a month ago, was after accusations of having a very toxic environment from verbal, sexual abuse to racism.

According to Ellen, she was not aware and after that information got to her in a very public way, she promised investigations will be done and changes will be made.

The daytime talk show resumed on Monday (yesterday) and she started it off with a lengthy apology that addressed reports and accusations that she is a boss who leads a very toxic workplace.

“Things happen here that never should have happened. If you’re watching because you love me, thank you. And if you’re watching it because you don’t love me, welcome. As you may have heard this summer, there were allegations of a toxic work environment at our show. And then there was an investigation. I learned that things happen here that never should have happened. I take that very seriously. And I want to say, I am so sorry to the people who were affected. I know that I’m in a position of privilege and power. And I realized that with that comes responsibility, and I take responsibility for what happens at my show."

Adding that,

“The truth is, I am that person that you see on TV. I am also a lot of other things. Sometimes I get sad, I get mad, I get anxious, I get frustrated, I get impatient. And I am working on all of that. I am a work in progress.”

Ellen then said that she cannot have fooled her viewers for over 17 years pretending that she is a good person yet behind the scene she is evil.

“So, I’m a pretty good actress, but I don’t think that I’m that good that I could come out here every day for 17 years and fool you. This is me. And my intention is to always be the best person I can be. And if I’ve ever let someone down, if I’ve ever hurt their feelings, I am so sorry for that.”

So hopefully from the allegations, things will change for the best. It saddened Ellen that her name is all over the show and people behind the scenes are tarnishing it.

She has worked so hard to get to where she is so she will not allow her name and show to have a negative narrative because of a few rotten tomatoes.
