On Wednesday, Uganda presidential candidate and musician, Bobi Wine was arrested for having more than 200 supporters at the rally, contrary to the electoral agency's guidelines.

What followed was protests which led to deaths of three people and dozens injured.

Police in Uganda through a statement didn't say how the three people died. Videos and photos have however been circulating on social media, showing people covered in blood, some seemingly unresponsive, apparently shot dead.

Following Wine's arrest, celebrities from East Africa joined hands and used the hash tag #FreeBobiWine to call for his release.

Below are a number of celebrities who are not letting boundaries block their voice.

1. Sauti Sol

2. Babu Owino

Known as Bobi Wine's close political friend, Babu posted;

Should Museveni refuse to release @bobiwine then Ugandans should “release” on him..

3. Zari Hassan

Calling out injustice and impunity in the campaigning process, Zari wrote;
