The much anticipated MTV Music Africa Awards which was planned to take place in Kampala, Uganda has been postponed.

The announcement was made by organizers on Thursday, without giving any reasons.

The event was set to take place on 20th February.

“MTV Base is postponing the 2021 MTV Africa Music Awards. We will keep fans updated as we have more news,” MTV Base Africa wrote across their official social media pages.

Apart from it being the first edition the ceremony was to be live-streamed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this was also supposed to be the very first time the awards were to be held in Uganda.

The last time the ceremony was held in East Africa was back in 2009 when it took place in Nairobi, Kenya.

The news will come as a shocker to many nominated artists and the acts who were supposed to perform, with Khaligraph being one of them.

A little over a week ago, an excited OG announced that he was set to perform.

On his planned performance Khaligraph who received two nominations (Best HipHop act and Listener's choice) said;

As you all know I have been nominated at the MTV MAMA's awards that is happening in UG on the 20th of February I'm gonna be holding it down on stage as well I'm gonna be performing and I am really excited about this and I hope you are as well.
