Diamond Platnumz has been nominated for a BET award under the category 'Best International Act'.
It is such a big in for him, Tanzania and East Africa at large but last week, a petition was lodged seeking to disqualify him.
One of the main reasons for the petition is that the singer never stood up for his Tanzanian people but has instead befriended government bodies for the benefit of his music business.
The petitioners also say that the singer remained silent when other Tanzanian celebrities were being tortured while others were fighting for their rights.
At the time, Diamond released the song 'Acha Nikae Kimya' meaning let me stay silent and that song has come to bite him in the but*.
Okay maybe not so much. In as much the petition had thousands of signatures, BET through their Instagram page have ignored it.

So manz still in the draw, now we vote. It's a major win and really he does deserve it. He has made a lot of music and good music for that matter. I guess a vote will be returning back the favor for entertaing us for years.
