Frankie Kiarie aka Just Gym It did not make a lot of Kenyans happy over the weekend after he put up a placard that read ' Look at your stomach, are you happy?'

It was not taken lightly by a lot of people who called him out for body-shaming as a fitness guru and nutritionist.

He was forced to explain himself after a lot of DMs and comments on that statement. Taking to social media, he did a series of Instagram stories clarifying that it was not directed to women as was assumed.

Frankie insisted that all he was trying to do was change the lifestyle of many Kenyans who drink a lot and eat nyama choma a lot.

"I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND YOUR SENTIMENTS HOWEVER I THINK THIS WHOLE THING HAS BEEN BLOWN OUT OF PROPORTION. I THINK I SHOULD HAVE ELABORATED MY STATEMENT. THE RATE AT WHICH WE ARE HAVING YOUNG PEOPLE GETTING LIFESTYLE DISEASES IS ALARMING. THE MESSAGE PUT ACROSS WAS NOT TO WOMEN (NOT SURE WHERE THAT NARRATIVE STEMMED FROM) IT WAS TO EVERYONE WHO IS WILLING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE STATE OF THEIR HEALTH. I HAVE CLIENTS WHO'VE RAN MARATHONS AND DO NOT HAVE 6PACK ABS. THAT WAS NOT THE POINT.

Adding that,

"EXCESS BELLY FAT IS EXTREMELY UNHEALTHY. IT'S A RISK FACTOR FOR DISEASES LIKE METABOLIC SYNDROME, TYPE 2 DIABETES, HEART DISEASE AND CANCER. THE MEDICAL TERM FOR UNHEALTHY FAT IN THE BELLY IS "VISCERAL FAT," WHICH REFERS TO FAT SURROUNDING THE LIVER AND OTHER ORGANS IN YOUR ABDOMEN. EVEN NORMAL-WEIGHT PEOPLE WITH EXCESS BELLY FAT HAVE AN INCREASED RISK OF HEALTH PROBLEMS. MY AIM IS TO SPREAD AWARENESS ON FITNESS, NUTRITION AND ABOVE ALL HEALTH ESPECIALLY AMONG THE YOUTH. PREVENTIVE MEASURES TRUMP CURATIVE MEASURES."
