Media personality Njambi 'Jahmby' Koikai has become the latest celebrity to throw her hat in the politics ring, announcing she will be contesting for Dagoretti South MP seat.
Koikai is confident she is the best suited candidate to unseat comedian John KJ Kiarie.
Announcing her bid on social media Koikai wrote;
My name is Mary Njambi Koikai. I was born and raised in Dagoretti, Nairobi by a single mother and my grandmother and the community around us. Like many others, my family sacrificed to pay for my education. I attended school in Nairobi all the way from primary to university. They wanted me to have a way out of poverty and a better future.Growing up in Dagoretti, I experienced the harsh living conditions in our community due to lack of resources.
She went on to add; The spirit of community and service to others was instilled in me at an early age because we had to take care of each other as family, neighbours and friends.Wee have faced numerous challenges as a community due to lack of proper healthcare, inadequate security and basic amenities. People in Dagoretti South aspire to live a better life for themselves and their children.
Koikai added that her manifesto is based on five key pillars which include; focusing on water, health and enriching the youth and self-sustainable opportunities for entrepreneurship to empower them by creating self-sustainable opportunities for entrepreneurship to empower them.
Koikai joins the likes of actress Dorea Chege, VDJ Jones, Prezzo, Jalang'o, MC Jessy, Eko Dyda and many other entertainers who want to try their hands in politics.
