Following the death of Chadwick Boseman, the marvel cinematic universe announced that they won’t by any chance recast the black panther star, King T’challa in their upcoming prequel, black panther; Wakanda forever, which is set to release on 11th November 2022.

Marvel fans, especially black panther fans, started a statement making movement to recast the late actor having acquired over 1.3 billion signatures from all around the world.

With posts such as “The number 1 way to kill a legend is to stop telling their stories.”, the movement initiated a wakeup call to the directors of the film outlining the importance and impact of a Black super hero to the black community especially black children.

Director Ryan Coogler, one of the directors of the franchise, stated that they won’t be recasting the King of Wakanda as production for the second film of the sequel began early last year. He added that Shuri, T’challa’s sister, would take the mantle of being both the queen of Wakanda and black panther claiming that the approach would help in honoring Chadwick Boseman.

'Recast T’challa' movement emphasizes on fundamental aspects of comic characters that shouldn’t change. For Example, Black panther and the King of Wakanda should be a colored man neither should the character be a woman nor a white man.
