There have been nasty rumors doing the rounds in Tanzania that legendary rapper, Professor Jay is dead.
The rapper whose real name is Joseph Haule, has been hospitalized for a while now at the Muhimbili Hospital.
Speaking to Global publishers, the rapper's brother rubbished claims that Jay is dead and said that he was recovering day by day.
He said; “It is a lie. He is not dead. Let us stop saying things that are not true.”
Tanzanian government pledged to cater for all of Professor Jay's medical expenses.
Through their Instagram account, the Tanzanian ministry of health wrote;
"Rais wa Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania Mh. Samia Suluhu Hassan ameelekeza kuwa kuanzia sasa Serikali itagharamia matibabu aliyekuwa Mbunge wa Mikumi na Msanii wa Muziki wa kizazi kipya Bw. Joseph Haule (Prof. Jay) anayetibiwa katika Hospitali ya Taifa Muhimbili hadi hapo atakaporuhusiwa kwenda nyumbani."
Professor Jay's wife, Grace Mgonjo is planning a gathering which will see his fans, friends and family gather to pray for his recovery.
Taking her Instagram, she wrote;
"Familia ya mzee Haule kwa kushirikiana na Clouds Media Group inakualika kwenye maombi maalum ya kumuombea Ndugu yetu na Kaka yetu *Profesa Jay* arejee kwenye afya yake.Maombi haya yatakua Jumamosi *Feb 12th 2022 Leaders Club* kuanzia saa 2 asbh hadi tatu kamili asbh.Viongozi wa Kisiasa, Wasanii, marafiki, Ndugu na Jamaa mnaalikwa wote bila kukosa. Viongozi mbalimbali wa Dini wataongoza maombi haya.Fika bila kukosa, tusali pamoja na kumuombea Mwenzetu arejee kwenye Afya yake."
