Yesterday, some information allegedly from the the Kenyan government regarding Kenya going back to a 100% functionality after battling COVID-19 was leaked on social media.

However, the ministry of health rubbished the information and said it didn't come from them.

On Thursday morning, Kamene felt a bit skeptical about the proposal (if it came to pass in future) saying that although the positivity rate has decreased to a manageable number, the pandemic is still with us and we are not ready yet to get rid of face masks.

She said that temperature screening at entrances of business buildings and PCR tests while travelling should be done away with leaving the face masks behind, adding that “…these masks have grown into our daily lives and one feels ‘naked’ if they aren’t in possession of one.”

As much as we want to go back to ‘the days’ before the pandemic and deal away with the protocols instilled to fight the pandemic, vaccination of a huge percentage of Kenyans, needs to be key for such a successful initiative to run without hiccups.
