Fast rising rapper 'Kuky'

Salima Muigai going by stage name ‘Kuky’ is a Kenyan rapper, singer/songwriter, model, and an entrepreneur hailing from Nairobi.

Having started her musical career doing cyphers and competing in rap battles, her talent easily stood out amongst her peers.

Mi Sijali, her debut release attests to the fact that lyrical prowess is not a boy’s club no more.

Having have to prove herself to a genre dominated by her male counterparts, Mi Sijali (which simply means, I don’t care) draws inspiration from knowing that being female doesn’t deter her reaching her full potential and that critics opinions don’t really worry her.

Drawing motivation from global Icons like Eve, who in her time was signed under Ruff Ryders label a label majorly dominated by males and Eminem, who also had to prove himself in a genre constantly considered to be a black culture genre, Kuky feels it’s her time and Mi Sijali gives you a front seat to a raw, lyrically adept song that will have you jamming to it word by word.

Having partnered with Asha Talent Management, goes far to show the faith Asha Mutuku, CEO (Asha Talent Management) has in Kuky. “First heard her doing a free style, and straight away, I knew she belonged to this industry and that there’s a place for her in my team,” Asha states. “Such talents are rare and when they come along, you just have to appreciate that as a woman, we also can do what men can do,” Asha concludes.

With Ricco Beatz on the beat, Mi Sijali is a master class of pure production and explosively commanding lyrics. “As an artist, it is humbling when you get to work with some of the industry’s best, Ricco is more than a producer, he is an absolute gentleman and a professional.

I couldn’t have wished for a better producer for my first major release and all I can say is thank you Ricco,” Kuky said. Mi Sijali also couldn’t have been a complete project without the expertism of Trey Juelz, whose unmatched visual abilities, brought forth a feel of what the artist had in mind.

“There is much yet to come from Kuky and Mi Sijali, who is trying to stand on my path, I will walk over them. To my fans draw inspiration from knowing that you belong. For those who stand on your way, bring you down, talk down at you…. Just hold your head high, shout with me MI SIJALI.
