The narrative, whether ladies should receive weekly allowances has been a discussion over the past two weeks on The Morning Kiss and after heated arguments, a decision was arrived at: it's ok to give allowances but the amount will be decided by the husband.
Kamene, on Wednesday morning, outwardly asked listeners “How much allowance should you get from your man?” and to my surprise, the men were no longer in favour of the ‘allowance’ chronicles.
Arguably saying that he pays rent, provides for the whole family including the wife’s parents, a male caller stated that “…hio ni madness…hady sisi hatulipangwi every week!”.
He was backed up by another male caller who added that, “…Kama ni allowance kula salamu kwanza…men get to provide everything and these women still want allowances.”
Women didn't sit this conversation out, a lady caller stated it should be obvious for men to offer allowances to their wives.
She went on to add her dad gives her mother 3K per day as allowance. She however didn’t state the kind of work he does.
