Akon mourns late signee Costa Titch in heartfelt post

Veteran Senegalese-American singer, record producer and entrepreneur Akon has finally broken silence after his signee South African rapper, Costa Titch tragically passed away on Saturday.

Taking to his Instagram account, Akon spoke highly of the late Amapiano artist as he termed his as a “Brilliant superstar with a kind heart which endeared him to all around him".

Akon went on to reminisce about the first time he had Costa's music and the big dreams the late 28-year-old had.

 
 

"I remember when Babs played me his record for the first time. I was convinced that he was going to make an impact in this world.

Costa Titch had a vision that I knew for sure would take over the music industry globally and was on his way to doing just that when god’s plan intervened.

It’s been a sad day but what makes me feel better is that I know he died doing what he loved doing the most in this world. God bless you COSTA!!!!!" Part of Akon's post read.

 
 

In the heartfelt long post, Akon added that the entire team at Konvict Kulture (his record label) was mourning Costa Titch and all the big plans they had together.

He also expressed his deepest condolences to Costa Titch’s family and friends.

The South African rapper born Costa Tsobanoglou but popularly known by his stage name, Costa Titch passed away Saturday evening after collapsing on stage while performing.

He was reportedly pronounced dead at the venue of the event he was performing at. Costa was among the stars who were performing at the Ultra music festival held at the Expo Centre in Johannesburg on Saturday night on Saturday, 12 March 2023. 

The family of the 28-year-old confirmed his death on Sunday morning in a statement released on his social media platforms

Costa, who is also a dancer, was born in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga in 1995 and is known for several hits and collaborations on his name.

In East Africa, he had worked with Mbosso and Diamond Platnumz recently.

In 2022 he was among the stars who performed at the SolFest – a concert organized by Sauti Sol.
