Ugandan Rap King and one of Africa’s most respected names in the rap scene, Navio, is back with “Hamadi”- new hit single and video featuring the late Ugandan music legend Elly Wamala.

“Hamadi” - Navio’s first single of the year embodies his versatility and diversity as a rapper, never afraid to experiment and fuse genres.

This collaboration is iconic and a show for a very strong Ugandan identity.

The making of classic songs and collaborating with classic acts is rooted in an appreciation of our past, present and future.

Navio says, “Hamadi was first recorded half a century ago, it was a song that struck a chord with the people of the time - real, uncompromising and storytelling.” It was important to the family of Elly Wamala that Navio brought back the classic and legend to life.

In the unapologetic “Hamadi”, Elly tells the story of “Hamadi” as Navio tells us his own. From composition to a simple melody, Navio touts the single as a gem to Hip Hop and 2023 releases.

Navio says that the making of “Hamadi'' was memorable. It was recorded by Baru with the video delivered by Ugandan stamp of quality, Sasha Vybz, throughout the whole experience.

It’s also Navio’s first song playlisted on major DSPs off his 'Vibes Out The East’ album (2022).

The recent album made history by becoming Navio’s most successful rap project and Uganda’s best rap record since Navio’s ‘Pride’ 2013 album. #VOTE album, hailed as one of top 3 East Africa Hip Hop efforts ever produced next to Necessary Noise and K-South, shot straight to number 1 in Uganda, displacing Drake and DJ Khaled for a few weeks. The album featuring Ben Pol, Stogie T, Nviiri The Storyteller, the late Bandallé, The Mith, Flex d’Paper and Lilian Mbabazi, flaunted some of the best production East Africa has heard.

Navio is grateful to the Wamala family for all of their aid and support during the making of “Hamadi”.
